Yay! Cake order 1 of 5 complete!

Go! Diego Go! themed cake and cupcakes for 3 year old Patrick’s Diego party. The birthday boy visited us to pick up his cakes but I forgot to take a picture with him :(

The cake is yellow buttermilk with vanilla swiss meringue buttercream and the cupcakes are Oreo-flavored with a sweet cream cheese filling and whipped cream frosting. All the fondant work was done by us and William, who made Diego’s baby jaguar friend. We all took power naps after the cakes were finished, and now we’re off to start cake order #2…

Crazy busy baking this week, starting with Michael’s tiramisu-inspired confirmation cake. Then over 100 cupcakes for Lara’s Junior Year Carnival at THS (yellow buttermilk and devil’s food cupcake with vanilla swiss buttercream frosting, Oreo and red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese frosting), special thanks to all our helpers that night! Another Spongebob-themed cake for a graduation party accompanied by jellyfish mini-cupcakes and Krabby Patties” (yellow buttermilk cupcake “buns”, brownie “patties”, vanilla swiss buttercream “ketchup”, and fondant “lettuce”). And of course we had so much cake leftovers that we had to make cake balls and give them away… Now I think we need massages.

Found a new Oreo-loaded cupcake recipe to practice. Oreo chunks folded into the batter, halved Oreo surprise sitting at the bottom, Oreo crumbs in the cream cheese frosting. Good thing we love Oreos…

Probably one of the best birthday presents anyone could get. With an entire day and a half of work we were able to meet Kelly’s Spongebob themed requests. All the pain of making them was well worth it. 

Cake: Red Velvet w. cream cheese frosting

Krabby Patties: Yellow cupcake buns, brownie burger patties, red vanilla frosting & fondant lettuce.

Mini Jelly Fish Cupcakes: Yellow cupcakes w. blue cream cheese frosting & fondant jelly fish.
